“After the Oscars, dessert will be served in 3-D at the Governors Ball this year. Spago pastry chef Sherry Yard has created an Austrian chocolate cake that resembles a staircase leading to a giant edible Oscar statuette that is iced in a way that makes it pop into relief when viewed through the 3-D glasses presented with the dessert. ‘It’s the first time we’re going to eat...

Hey, hi!  I know I’ve been bad at posting to this Tumblr over the past year or so.  Here’s a partial excuse!  James and I wrote a feature-length script last spring/summer, and now it’s happening, and we’re going to direct it this summer.  We get to work with a lot of our favorite people on it too.  So far, it’s been really fun and also a little terrifying, which is...

How to Get a Man's Telephone Number by Taylor... →
I used to work for Taylor, in the pizza-eating office she describes here.  AND she was the first person to ever follow me on Tumblr circa 2007!  Now she is my occasional informal life coach, and she drops wisdom gems on me like she does on herself in this article on The Hairpin.  Worth reading.

Fake Blood
Don’t get that clear pinkish stuff from Party City.  This is the way to go: Corn syrup.  A little bit of water.  A ton of red food coloring.  A tiny bit of blue food coloring.  And cocoa powder, until it’s opaque. Then you can thin it or thicken it depending on what it’s going to do.  Add some water if it’s going to splatter, add some flour if it’s going to drip or...

Things I Learned From LMFAO's Wikipedia Page
LMFAO are uncle and nephew. Actually, they are half-uncle and half-nephew, which is even weirder, in a way. They were originally called “Sexy Dudes,” but they changed the name at their grandmother’s request. Their stage names are Redfoo and Skyblu. Redfoo is a former day trader.

Old Hollywood is one of the best Tumblrs, and if you’re not following it, you’re making a mistake.  The audio posts alone are worth it.  Logan had the genius idea of creating a Spotify playlist of all their songs.  I don’t really know how Spotify links work, but I think this will take you there.

I just remembered this ridiculous thing, that I was sort of dating a guy in college who had a folder on his computer called “Girls” and when I clicked it, it was full of subfolders named for each of the girls he’d dated.  And each subfolder contained all the emails, photos, scanned letters (?), etc. relating to that girl.  Okay, I don’t exactly know.  I didn’t read...
